Meet COMPSA Council

President

Alex Wojaczek

The President helps coordinate the efforts of the members of Council to provide support and resources for students. They shall seek to explore new opportunities that benefit the Association and the Computing student body as a whole. They oversee aspects of Computing Orientation week and meet with the administration on a regular basis.

Vice President, Operations

Lauren Yates

The VP Ops is responsible for a lot of the day to day operations of the Association, including the conferences and teams that we have. They oversee the Governance, Marketing, and Human Resources Offices of the Association as well as the finances.

Vice President, Student Affairs

Ashley Drouillard

The VPSA is responsible for representing the Association to the larger bodies of the School of Computing, and the University, such as AMS and ASUS Assembly. They oversee the Academics, Events, Equity, and Professional Development Commissions of the Association.

First Year Representative

Leo Toueng

The First Year Rep is mainly a liaison between council and first year students. The First Year Rep is also in charge of planning and executing Cover Your Crest. The last big duty of the First Year Rep is to sit on the Tricolour Award selection committee, representing COMPSA on the committee that awards the highest distinction given to students.

Second Year Representative

Roberto Ruiz

The Second Year Representative is a liaison between COMPSA and students in 2nd Year . By working with all the upper year representatives, they organize the COMPSA Buddy Program and all its associated events. Additionally, they are responsible for the management and execution of Computing ThankQ, part of the overall Queen's ThankQ program.

Third Year Representative

Cesur Kavaslar

The Third Year Representative are a liaison between COMPSA and students in 3rd Year. By working with other upper year representatives, they organize the COMPSA Buddy Program and all its associated events. Additionally, they are responsible for the management and execution of Computing ThankQ, part of the overall Queen's ThankQ program.

Fourth Year Representative

Lydia Nour

The Fourth Year Representative is a liaison between COMPSA and students in 4th Year. By working with other upper year representatives, they organize the COMPSA Buddy Program and all its associated events. Additionally, they are responsible for the management and execution of Computing ThankQ, part of the overall Queen's ThankQ program.

Academics

Sal Choueib

The Academics Director works towards creating a positive academic environment within the School of Computing through providing academic support and guidance to undergraduate students. They oversee and assist the Tutorials Coordinator, Peer-Tutoring Coordinator, and Course Feedback Coordinator.

Equity

Katherine Baillie

The Equity Director strives to raise awareness and promote equity and diversity issues on campus and within the School of Computing. They oversee and assist the Mental Health Coordinator and are responsible for organizing equity training for the COMPSA council.

Events

Meryl Gamboa

The Events Director is responsible for planning and coordinating the events of the association such as the Welcome Back Barbecue. They oversee and assist the Athletics Coordinator, Formal Convenor, Program Representatives, and Social Coordinators with their events. Check out the Events page for upcoming event details!

Governance

Sean Remedios

The Governance Director is responsible for the preparation and storage of hard/soft copy records such as agendas, minutes, and website documents. They ensure the Constitution and Policies are coherent and updated. They oversee and assist the Scribe, Agenda and Minutes Curator, and the Chief Electoral Officer.

Human Resources

Grace Pigeau

The Human Resources Director Judicial and Human Resource branches of the Association. Should an issue of conflict of interest arise, they make an appropriate decision on how to handle the matter. Oversees and assists the Volunteer Coordinator and Talent Acquisition Manager.

Professional Development

Max Keleher

The Professional Development Director works to increase professional development opportunities and employment prospects for Computing students. They oversee and assist the Internship Officer, Recruitment Coordinator, and Alumni Speaker Program Coordinator with the organisation of their events and goals.

Marketing

Jessica Dassanayake

The Marketing Director is responsible for the marketing of events and opportunities to the members of the Association. They look into new ways of promoting the Association and its events and services. Oversees and assists the Social Media Coordinator, Merchandise Coordinator, Graphic Designer, Webmaster, and Photographer.

Treasurer

Vahid Rahmani

The Treasurer is responsible for assisting the VPOPs in creating, overseeing and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements to the council. They are also in charge of ensuring all transactions are recorded and made according to policy. Finally, the Treasurer's main role is to make the money work in the best way possible for all members of the Computer Science Faculty.

Social Media Coordinator

Responsible for updating the COMPSA Social Media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) throughout the year.

Merchandise Coordinator

Alastair Lewis

Responsible for ordering the Associations' merchandise.

Graphic Designer

Daniel Hughes

Designs all promotional material and merchandise.

Webmaster

Maintains and updates the COMPSA website.

Photographer

Jonathon Gallucci

Ensures that photos are taken at COMPSA events and occasions.

Responsible for the planning and execution of: Fall Night Out, End of Year Computing Banquet.

Athletics Coordinator

Responsible for increasing Computing participation in intramural athletic activities.

Chief Electoral Officer

Organizes and runs the Associations' elections.

Scribe

Thomas Parker

The scribe is appointed by the Internal Affairs Commissioner to record and compile minutes, votes, and other important information for the General Assembly.

Agenda and Minutes Curator

Nour Fahmy

Prepares the Agendas and keeps attendance for all of the Association's General and Council Meetings.

Speaker

Spencer Delaney

The speaker must remain unbiased during assemblies and should an issue of conflict of interest arise, make an appropriate decision on the matter.

Mental Health Coordinator

Rachel Theriault

Raises awareness of mental health issues and carry out awareness campaigns throughout the year.

Tutorials Coordinator

Matt Dixon

Organizes group tutorials for the Association as needed. These will often occur upon request by students, or prior to midterms, tests, and exams for computing students.

Course Feedback Coordinator

Cindy Wu

Responsible for liaising with the Undergraduate Program Assistant in the School of Computing to coordinate the Class Representative and USAT Evaluation Program.

Peer-Tutoring Coordinator

Responsible for amendments to the Peer Tutoring Handbook and ensuring the availability of tutors for computing students.

Talent Acquisition Manager

Responsible for increasing interest and engagement in COMPSA positions, and engage in targeted marketing strategies to increase the number of applicants to positions.

Volunteer Appreciation Coordinator

Jocelyn Smith

Ensures that the Association is benefiting its volunteers, including through organizing volunteer appreciation events.

Internship Officer

Matthew Pollock

Serves as a resource who are interested in partaking in the Queen's University Internship Program (QUIP) and promote QUIP to Computing students.

Recruitment Coordinator

Taylor Simpson

Liaises with companies and organisations to bring them to campus, and assist with arranging workshops or events for them.

Alumni Speaker Program Coordinator

Diana Dumitrascu

Works to bring alumni to campus to speak about their experiences after graduating.
